The 2015 GRAMMY Awards

As I’ve done for about the past 2 years, I will be live-tweeting both the GRAMMY pre-telecast & the main telecast. (For the west coast, the pre-telecast begins at 12:30 pm via grammy.com/live and the telecast begins at 8pm.)

Below the cut are some of my personal picks for tonight’s GRAMMY Awards

Album of the Year: Beyonce — Beyonce

Best New Artist: Sam Smith

Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album: Cheek to Cheek — Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga

Best Pop Vocal Album: In The Lonely Hour — Sam Smith

Best Jazz Vocal Album: Map To The Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro OR Live in NYC — Gretchen Parlato OR Beautiful Life — Dianne Reeves

Best Jazz Instrumental Album: Landmarks — Brian Blade & The Fellowship Band OR All Rise: A Joyful Elegy for Fats Waller — Jason Moran

Best American Roots Performance: “And When I Die” — Billy Childs Featuring Alison Krauss & Jerry Douglas

Best Musical Theatre Album: A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder OR Aladdin

Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package: The Rise & Fall Of Paramount Records, Volume One (1917-27)

Best Album Notes: The Rise & Fall Of Paramount Records, Volume One (1917-27), Scott Blackwood

Best Historical Album: All of the nominees sound super cool so I’d love to see any of them win and I unfortunately haven’t had the opportunity to listen to any of these. If I have to choose just based on what I know of them, Black Europe: The Sounds and Images of Black People in Europe Pre-1927 OR Happy: The 1920 Rainbo Orchestra Sides (I’m a big fan of Archeophone Records!)
